    Buses - Monorail - Trolley

    Schedules and Routes Fares
    • CAT - Citizens Area Transit is the city bus system. The majority of routes operate from 5am to 1am seven days a week. There are 14 routes that operate 24/7. There is not much to say about a city bus system other than the schedules always seem complicated. A 24 hour pass is $5.00. There is no one-way fare for non-residents. For one-way fares see the Deuce (also owned by the city). City buses can be helpful especially if your looking to go off Strip to one of the cities many great restaurants without Strip prices. At $5.00 you'll save a ton off cab prices.
    • Deuce operates many routes, but for visitors the Strip is the route of choice. A one-way pass is $2.00 and an all day pass is $5.00. The Deuce is owned by the CAT and as such its passes are good for city buses as well. The primary advantage of the Deuce is the double decker view. If you ride on the Deuce do yourself a favor and sit on the second level. You'll get views of the Strip you can't get on the other modes of transportation.
    • The Monorail is a quick mode of transportaion to many of the casinos on the Strip. It does not go to Fremont Street and does not travel south of the MGM Grand. It is also more costly than the buses and trolley. A one-way fare is $5.00 and an all day fare is $15.00. Currently 12/5/2007 there is a special on the all day fare for $9.00. A big advantage of the monorail is that it has a pickup and drop-off location right next to the convention center. The Las Vegas Monorail operates Monday through Thursday from 7am to 2am, and Friday through Sunday 7am to 3am.
    • Vegas.com Arrow or Strip Trolley is either a bus or trolley and displays the vegas.com arrow. It runs from the Fremont Street Experience all the way down to the South end of the Strip past South Point Casino. A one-way ride is only $2.50 (cheap for Vegas). An all day pass, good from 8:30am to 5pm is only $4.25 - again a great deal! There is also a night pass available for $4.25 that is good from 5pm to Midnight. Business travelers can get a convention pass for $6.50. They now also offer a combo monorail and trolley one day pass for $10 with unlimited rides. You must book that online, click here for that. At midnight the Trolley stops running. If your looking to travel from casino to casino without the hike the Las Vegas Strip Trolley is the way to go.

Taxicab Companies

Fares and Fees
  • Las Vegas Taxicab companies are regulated by the Nevada Taxicab Authority. Any complaints that you might have or feedback in general should be directed there as well as the company itself.
  • Fares and fees are set by the Nevada Taxicab Authority.
Here is the current fee schedule:
    • Drop for initial activation of taximeter $3.30.
    • Each additional 1/11th mile (Includes $.20 per mile Fuel Surcharge) $.20. That's $2.20 per mile. If the meter senses that the cab is moving less than 8-12 miles per hour than it will add .20 every 25.7 seconds.
    • Waiting time per hour $28.00.
    • McCarran Airport fee per pick-up $1.20.
    • So if you have been picked-up at the McCarren Airport the meter before you even start should read $4.50. Just as an example a fare from McCarren to the Flamingo Hotel will run you about $13.74 as long as you don&# 39;t wait in traffic. This does not include tip.
  • Here is a link to a chart of Taxi Rates from McCarren Airport to many casino destinations.
  • Here is another link to a fare calculator. Be careful how you enter your information. I've found it useful to enter the street designation completely (ie...Boulevard instead of blvd.). Use commas, not periods and finish each address with: Las Vegas, NV (no period at the end).
  • Be aware that most cab companies do not take credit cards.
